A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Andhra Pradesh & Thailand to promote Biotech sectors mutually, through collaboration in the field of research, and exchange of Scientists & teaching professionals. The MoU was signed by Mr. B.P.Acharya, Secretary, Industries and Commerce & Dr.Pornchai, Matangkasombut, President (Vice-Chancellor) of Mahidol University of Bangkok on 23rd of June, 2003 at Washington, in connection with the International Biotech Conference, BIO-2003. Deputy Prime Minister of Thailand Mr. Suwit Khun Kitti and Mr. B.Gopalakrishna Reddy, Minister for SSI & Biotechnology, Dr. D.Balasubramanian, Chairman, State Biotech Advisory Committee and others of the Indian delegation were present at the function organised for this purpose at Thailand Embassy at Washington. This MoU would pave the way for collaboration, particularly in the field of Marine Biotechnology & Biotech applications for Aqua Culture & Tropical Medicine.
