Kard Scientific Inc. of Cambridge, USA will set up their unit for drug development in S.P.Biotech Park of Genome Valley in Hyderabad. An MoU to this effect was signed by Dr.Krishna Menon, Chief Operating Officer of Kard Scientific Inc. and Mr.S.Dhawan, Chief Executive, S.P.Biotech Park Limited at Washington on 25th June,2003 in the presence of Mr.B.P.Acharya,Secretary, Industries & Commerce. Dr.S.Balasubramanian, Chairman of State Biotech Advisory Committee was also present on the occasion. Several other Pharma and Biotech companies, such as Astra Zeneca, Pfizer and Chemical Diversity, Genoexpression, Transzyme have agreed to start their Biochemical R&D operations and contract research in ICICI Knowledge Park and S.P. Biotech park. The deals in this regard are expected to be finalized soon. Discussions with the representatives of these companies were held by the A.P. delegation during the BIO-2003 International Exhibition being held at Washington.
