DR Reddy's Laboratories, GMR Industries and Samkrg Pistons and Rings are among the leading corporates which have been bestowed with the May Day, Best Management Award for the year 2005.

The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, presented the awards at a special function in Hyderabad today.For Dr Reddy's, the award was given for its contribution in maintenance of industrial relations, labour welfare and productivity. The company CEO and Executive Vice-Chairman, Mr G.V. Prasad, received the award from the Chief Minister.
The GMR Industries received the award for its sugar division based at Sankili in Srikakukam district.

The sugar factory is the first in the country to achieve benchmark figures of 36 per cent steam consumption and 22 units of power consumption per tonne of cane crushed, according to a company press release.
Samkrg Pistons and Rings was another company which received the award. The company has successfully developed sophisticated surface coating processes of piston for exports.
